It was a bright festive time for a group of children and single mothers in Seremban, Negri Sembilan, as they were taken on a shopping trip in conjunction with Deepavali.
The group comprised 25 children and five single mothers from Shekinah Care Centre, as well as underprivileged pupils from SJKT Bandar Sri Sendayan accompanied by their siblings.
The trip to buy new clothes, under the theme “Festival of Lights: Sharing Joy, Spreading Smiles”, was organised by Matrix Concepts Foundation.
Foundation vice-chairman Datuk R. Batumalai said the event was part of its community outreach to share joy, empower families and celebrate the values of kindness and togetherness that defined the Festival of Lights.
“Deepavali reminds us of the light that shines brightest when shared with others. “We believe that the foundation’s role goes beyond giving – it is about nurturing hope, dignity and opportunity for those in need.
“These moments of connection are what keep the flame of humanity alive,” he said. Present at the event were Matrix Concepts Holdings Bhd group executive director Kelvin Lee and his management team.
Post-shopping, the group was treated to dinner, ang pow and entertainment. Matrix Concepts also donated RM5,000 each to Shekinah Care Centre and SJKT Bandar Sri Sendayan.
For the Deepavali season, the developer also held a similar programme in Johor. In Kluang, pupils from SK Canossian Convent and their families were taken on a shopping trip, while food packs containing essentials such as rice, cooking oil and dry food were distributed to 100 families.
