Matrix Concepts Holdings Bhd’s foray into the private and international education sector via the opening of Matrix Global Schools (MGS) is part of its diversification plan to ensure recurring income for its sustainable growth in the future.
Chairman Datuk Mohamad Haslah Mohamad Amin said the company has invested some RM145 million for the construction of school campus that sits on a 20-acre piece of land in Bandar Sri Sendayan and it is operated by Matrix Concepts unit Matrix Global Education Sdn Bhd.
“The school is modelled after a British residential school concept. It syncs very well with our collaboration and affiliation to the 130-yearold British residential school, the Ellesmere College UK,” he said in a statement yesterday.
The campus houses five school buildings occupying a total area of over 700,000 sq ft and has full-fledged facilities equivalent to most universities in the country. MGS started operations last September and currently has a total of 426 students but has a capacity to cater to a total population of 2,500 students.
The school’s target markets are mainly Negri Sembilan, the southern Klang Valley and the international community as well as the Asean region. Mohamad Haslah is hopeful the full capacity could be achieved within the next five years.
“By then, it will have 1,000 students for the international school and 1,500 students for the national private school,” he said.
MGS, comprising the Matrix International Pre-School, Matrix International School which offers the IGCSE — University of Cambridge O and A levels and Matrix Private School which follows the national KSSR and KSSM curriculum, will provide a comprehensive and global education encompassing the students’ intellectual, physical, emotional and spiritual developments.
MGS will be officially launched next Tuesday by Deputy Prime Minister and Education Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and will be accompanied by Mentri Besar of Negri Sembilan Datuk Seri Mohamad Hassan.
Bandar Sri Sendayan is Matrix Concepts’ flagship township in Negri Sembilan covering 5,233 acres of land in Seremban.
It is an integrated self-contained township comprising residential, commercial, industrial, leisure and institutional properties.
